COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Improve each participant's overall cardiovascular fitness level through aquatic based exercise modalities. Develop in each student a core menu of water based exercises they can do on their own. 
Increase muscle tone, strength and flexibility in a setting that is more joint and spine friendly.

GRADING:
1. PE 1 Water Exercise is a pass/no pass class. Grading is based on attendance and participation. 
2. The minimum attendance to pass is 85% (or 17 out of 20 sessions). 
3. 14 class sessions (70%) must be completed in class. In addition, technical and tactical skill development is assessed and supported throughout the quarter.

CHECKLIST FOR A SUCCESSFUL CLASS:
1. Arrive for class on time and in appropriate pool attire. 
2. Don't eat a heavy meal immediately prior to class. 
3. Be sensitive to the injuries you might have, listen to your body (especially your shoulders, knees, elbows, etc.). If one of the exercises we are doing is causing you undue pain or injury, stop immediately and inform the instructor. 
4. Do not be afraid to ask questions. The question on your mind is probably on the minds of others as well. 
5. Bring a container of water to drink from to avoid dehydration.

Please carefully follow the guideline provided by your instructor and adhere to any rules established by the instructor.  Please notify your instructor immediately if you become injured or ill, or feel that you shouldn't participate in a given activity. Unless otherwise expressly indicated by the student, the assumption is that the student is in good health and is capable of participating in all facets of the physical activity related to this class."
